We are excited to welcome back Patrick Gladish, you may remember him as “Simon Stimson” French Creek’s recent production of Our Town. He will be playing Mr. Salt in our production of Willy Wonka opening this Friday.
Tell us a little about yourself?
Patrick is thrilled to be cast in his second show at French Creek Theatre! He loved Willy Wonka growing up, both the book by Roald Dahl and the movie starring Gene Wilder. His last role at French Creek was Simon Stimson in Our Town. Other past roles around Northeast Ohio included Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Ted in Harbor, and Biondello in Taming of the Shrew. You may also have seen performing improvisational comedy in groups such as Something Dada and Torque. He would like to thank the cast, crew, and director for the journey. He hopes you enjoy the show and thanks you for supporting the arts!
Although the odds are nearly impossible, it’s Charlie Bucket’s dream to find a golden ticket and win a tour of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. What’s your “golden ticket” dream?
My “golden ticket” would be more like a “knowledge ticket.” Like, I turn in the ticket and WHAM! I’m fluent in French or I turn in the ticket and WHAM! I’m really good at piano.
Charlie Bucket’s family barely gets by living in a cramped house with both sets of grandparents, and they all still wear smiles. What’s it like at your home? How do you and yours make it work?
My apartment is pretty cozy. I pay rent by bartending during the days & weekends and I stay busy/save by acting.
Willy Wonka is all about the candy. What’s your favorite?
Nothing beats Cowtails.
The show is about Willy Wonka finding the right person to pass his candy-making legacy to. What do you want to be your legacy? How will it be carried on?
I secretly want to seize the means of production and overthrow our capitalist overlords. Whoever I passed on my legacy to would inevitably become a dictator of the proletariat
The children in Willy Wonka all have their flaws that get them booted off the tour of Wonka’s factory. What weakness of yours would get you kicked out of the chocolate factory?
I would probably be kicked out of the factory for asking too many questions. The first few that come to mind are “What are the working conditions of the Oompa Loompas?” What do you pay them?” How many labor laws are you violating?” or “Are these guys union?”
