We are excited to welcome back Jack Drinan, you may remember him from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and True North Cultural Arts’ production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He will be playing Augustus Gloop in our production of Willy Wonka opening this Friday.
Tell us a little about yourself?
Jack is an eighth grader at Avon Middle School. He plays the piano, saxophone, and oboe, and has recently become a member of the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony. He is an active member of his Boy Scout troop. This is his third production at French Creek Theatre. He has previously been a part of Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He is grateful, once again, for having been given the opportunity to get to know and learn from everyone involved in the show. He has loved every minute of it!
Although the odds are nearly impossible, it’s Charlie Bucket’s dream to find a golden ticket and win a tour of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. What’s your “golden ticket” dream?
My “golden ticket” dream is to have free tuition to any high school and/or college.
Charlie Bucket’s family barely gets by living in a cramped house with both sets of grandparents, and they all still wear smiles. What’s it like at your home? How do you and yours make it work?
My house is crazy, it’s calm, it’s loud, it’s quiet, it’s about all of the above. My mom helps keep everyone on schedule and sane, but we all help out sometimes.
Willy Wonka is all about the candy. What’s your favorite?
My favorite candy is a Boost Bar.
The show is about Willy Wonka finding the right person to pass his candy-making legacy to. What do you want to be your legacy? How will it be carried on?
For my legacy, I want to be remembered as someone always helped when help was needed and making parts of the world a better place, because you can’t get to everywhere in one lifetime. My legacy will be carried on through my kids and grandkids because I will teach them to be good at heart.
The children in Willy Wonka all have their flaws that get them booted off the tour of Wonka’s factory. What weakness of yours would get you kicked out of the chocolate factory?
My weakness that would get me kicked off the tour is that I have bad listening skills. Wonka would say something, I wouldn’t listen, and he would leave me behind.
